I bought this book for he certification exam. It's very well explained, the examples are clear. I consider this book a mandatory reference in order to pass the exam.

Well, the subjet itself (SCJP6 examination) is well covered so it is worth it studying it.
However, I have found myself much distracted too often from the very simple concepts, by:
A- double/triple explanations over the same idea (once is enough)
B- personal jokes (out of scope)
C- long wordy explanations just to say something quite simple (accuracy is better than quantity)
Finally, It fails in giving a REAL "two-minutes drill" with, for instance, essential constructions like...
" The Ternary Conditional Operator follows this structure: myVariable = boolExpression ? valueIfTrue : valueIfFalse "
I loved Sybex "Complet Java2 certification" that I used few years ago to succesfully pass SCJP 1.4.
This time I hesitated because the author had changed... but I should have bought it. Now, I regret.

Livre très bien construit clair et efficace pour les développeur connaissant le JAVA et désirant passer la certification SCJP. Un bon niveau d'anglais est nécessaire.

J'ai passé ma commande fin janvier 2010 pour les deux livres.
Le SCWCD est arrivé moins de 5 jours chez moi.
Pour le SCJP, j'ai dû faire plusieurs relance au vendeur pour finalement le recevoir début mars 2010.
Je n'ai reçu, ni excuse, ni compensation.
Donc à vous de voir.
Pour ma part, si je devais les noter sur 10, je donnerais 4,5/10

Je suis aux anges avec ce livre. Pleins de détails intéressants que les développeurs négligeant dans la "vraie vie" et pourtant ils devraient apprendre pour passer leur certification Java.
